I’m sure there’s probably plenty of hidden references if you go through it frame by frame. Produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by JJ Abrams, there’s alot of excitement already building for this, next Summer! I’d speculate that this scene may well be the start / setup of the movie, and from here on in, whatever escapes is shot by a few locals or whatnots with a Super 8 camera, ala Cloverfield style.
