Ahead of Invasion Cork (tickets up for grabs all week long) I got to catch up with Academy award nominee (and incredibly nice guy) Matthew Wood from Lucasfilm / Skywalker Sound. Regarding the Star Wars Blu-Ray release next year, Matthew told me that in 2004 he had to remix Episode IV for a 5.1 mix, and the whole thing had to be recreated from scratch from the original 1977 version of the movie. This will be the version that is the basis for the Blu-Ray by all accounts. There’s plenty more in the interview including the future of audio in the cinema, has it peaked or is there more to come as well as plenty of other Star Wars goodness and a little bit of an insight into Skywalker Ranch!
