The Irish Film Board has confirmed today that it was in contact with the producers of The Hobbit, with a view to bringing the much troubled shoot to Irish soil.
A spokesperson for the IFB said "We are following a line of enquiry on the project," and that was that. Nothing more, nothing less. But at least the offer or at least some form of conversation is taking place. After all, Ireland isn’t much different to New Zealand. Ok they got more sheep, but we got more cows…and drunks…maybe.
Seriously, this must come to a huge blow to New Zealand as not only Ireland, but Canada and Scotland are also potential locations unless the drama comes to an end in the true home of the Hobbits.
