Right then, here’s my top 5 movies of 2010. And yes, I know..there’s a tie (or a draw) for 5th place. So…in particular order…
5 - THE KILLER INSIDE ME / SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD
Affleck has got to get an Oscar nom at the very least. The Killer Inside Me is a profound movie with superb performances throughout. Sure, Affleck knocking a quarter pounders out of Jessica Alba might upset some folk, but seriously Winterbottom hit this one out of the park.
Scott Pilgrim was epic in every sense. Funny, Sexy, Smart and super stylized. Edgar Wright doing an AMAZING job bring the Bryan Lee O Malley’s graphic novels to the big screen, and it had a shit hot soundtrack to boot.
4 - TOY STORY 3
God, did this movie make me wail like a baby. The final quarter of Toy Story 3 brought out the waterworks in huge torrents. Woody and Buzz never looked better and a host of new characters made Toy Story 3 potentially the greatest movie Pixar ever produced. So much so that I have 30 quid on it to win best picture at the Oscars.
3 - THE SOCIAL NETWORK
Nothing but courtroom drama. Sure David Fincher didn’t have co-operation from Zuckerberg and co but he managed to pull off an astounding movie with a cast that acted their arse off, in particular Jesse Eisenberg who really has arrived. The pacing was spot on, the tone perfect and the movie essentially about a group of geeks trying to get laid was a brilliant addition to 2010.
2 – INCEPTION
Simply put, incredible! Chris Nolan created an amazing movie on all counts. He also proved that blockbuster’s needn't be no brainer entertainers. As soon as the credits rolled I instantly wanted to watch it again!
1 - KICK-ASS
Back in March I knew this was going to be my flick of the year. Matthew Vaughan pulled off an absolutely amazing movie that just resonated with me on so many levels. Dialogue, Violence, Funnies, Performances and a soundtrack to die for, Kick-Ass is just phenomenal. My movie of 2010.
As for the worst flick of the year, well I’ll leave Shit and the City 2 and Fucked Ups battle that one out! Anyways, please post your Top 5 flicks of the year in the comment box if you can be arsed!
