Summit Entertainment have released the following statement “"An enthusiastic and naive young producer made a mistake. When we found out, we asked him to stop immediately and let the Academy know and he is making amends.". Why I hear you ask? Well, Nicholas Chartier (the guy who bankrolled the movie) sent an email to the Academy members asking them to vote for the Hurt Locker and not that $500M movie. Which is a massive breaking of the rules for Oscar campaigning. Of course he apologised saying “My naivete, ignorance of the rules and plain stupidity as a first time nominee is not an excuse for this behavior and I strongly regret it,” according to Deadline Hollywood, but given the politics that surround all things Oscar, this could well go against Kathryn Bigelow’s movie when it comes to picking up a few Golden bald men!
