Nick Urata, frontman for DeVotchKa, scored the critically-acclaimed film, I Love You Phillip Morris (2010). Starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Bad Santa), the film has opened in France to great reviews.
This year, Urata was named one of the top 10 up-and-coming film composers of today by The Hollywood Reporter. His current credits include The Fling, The Joneses, and Father of Invention, all of which are set to be released this year. Urata’s band, DeVotchKa, scored the film Little Miss Sunshine. The band received worldwide attention and a Grammy Nomination for their work on the critically acclaimed movie.
The band tours the world nonstop. Originally, DeVotchKa performed as a backing band for burlesque shows before quickly becoming a headlining act in major markets throughout the U.S. In May, the band is set to co-headline a U.S. tour with Gogol Bordello, and in June, the band will join Muse for a series of stadium shows in Europe.
