Ridley Scott has confirmed to Collider that the Alien Prequel will be in 3D. Thankfully though, the original Alien, director has got the cop on to shoot it in 3D and not do one of these absolutely appalling Titan’s conversions. There’s part of a great interview on Collider that isn’t posted in full as of yet. In it, Scott goes on to talk about doing 2 Prequels as well as shooting in 3D, which has moved on since James Cameron’s 3D cameras. Scott says “No, I think they’ve already moved beyond. Jim said that this technique, which had taken them four years, he’d said that now you could do it in two. Technology’s shifting all the time. I could have converted Robin Hood. They’d said last October, I could have squeezed it under the hammer and got it in as a 3D version of Robin Hood.”
It’s interesting to see that the cinematic heavy weights are all willing to dabble in 3D, and the most important thing is that they are willing to shoot it in 3D. As opposed to the bullshit of “having designed some of the shots with 3D in mind”. Letterier and Burton ARE YOU LISTENING!!!
