Joel and Ethan Coen have gone west, and with them they’ve brought Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges. A story of revenge, True Grit certainly looks spectacular, in every sense of the word, and if you notice the credits, Steven Spielberg has lent his name to the executive producer role to boot! The original True Grit was released back in 1969 and John Wayne blagged an Oscar for Best Actor. Ironically enough, Jeff Bridges is taking on the role that Wayne won the Oscar for, that of Marshall “Rooster” Cogburn. That said, the last time we saw Josh Brolin next to a horse was in Jonah Hex, although I’m sure he’ll fair a bit better this time round!
