The trailer for The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale has turned up online. It tells the true story of “Irish” Micky Ward (Wahlberg) , who in reality is classed as a working class hero in his native Massachusetts. Trained by his brother (who once fought Sugar Ray Leonard in real life) it follows the fall and rise of a boxer and will certainly have you shouting at the screen when this rolls into cinemas. Even at the trailer I was on the edge of my seat. There could be a bit of Oscar buzz about this one, and it certainly is being released at the right time. Previously Brad Pitt and Matt Damon were attached to star and Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky was attached to direct.
The Fighter is released in Stateside on December 10th with no release date attached for this side of the pond, although I’d speculate early 2011.
