Just a few tips for the 55th Cork Film Festival for today, Tuesday.
The controversial Enter The Void by Gaspar Noé (Irreversible) which follows the “afterlife” of a drug dealing teen who is killed in Japan. After which he reappears as a ghost and watches over his sister. Might not be everybody's cup of tea, in particular it didn’t float too many boats in Canne, but Noé is an interesting film maker and curiosity would get the better of me for this. Enter The Void is showing at The Cork Opera House at 3:10pm and you can buy tickets here.
The Garage starring Pat Shortt, in an outstanding performance is also a must watch, if you haven’t seen it. And whilst it’s available on DVD here’s an opportunity to see it on the big screen one more time. The movie follows the story of Josie, a fuel injection technician at a local garage and through a series of events, his life changes forever. Incredible film and again, a career best performance from Shortt. Gate Cinema – 6pm. Buy tickets here
And finally, there’s part 2 of the Made In Cork Programme showcasing a wide variety of locally produced shorts. Gat Cinema – 7pm. Buy tickets here.
