Remember a few years back, when the talk of Hollywood was who would take the Action Film reigns and alight the Box Office with explosions, muscles and one-liners? Well, among those speculated to be taking up that post was Gerard Butler and although he hasn't exactly become the genre's next big thing, he's no stranger to adrenaline fueled cinema thanks to 300, Gamer and RockNRolla. Now Deadline are reporting that the actor is about to sign on to headline director Antoine Fuqua's next flick, The Afterburn. The Afterburn is a comic adaptation in which a man travels one half of the world, after a solar flare destroys the other half. He roams around what's left as a treasure hunter, looking for anything left of value. As he hasn't officially signed on, we can only assume the film is still in very early stages, so there is no release date as of yet.
