Danny Boyle is doing the press rounds for 127 hours and spoke to cinematical and revealed some notions about a sequel to the brilliant Trainspotting. The Oscar winning director said "It will happen, I think. I mean, we'll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place they're all at. We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to reapproach, to do again, when they have aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis, basically. They're not quite there yet, I don't think."
The original movie was simply mindblowing! From that opening “toilet” scene to the final credits I was well and truly hooked! And the whole thing had a brilliant soundtrack to boot! From Iggy Pop to Bedrock and Underworld, Trainspotting was one of the finer movies of 1996.
In a time where foreign movies are being remade for an American audience (Let The Right One In, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo instantly spring to mind) would the Americans even begin to understand aload of slurred Scottish speech? And that’s not me being unfair to the Americans, but for the best part, accents (Scottish and Irish in particular) have caused all kinds of confusion! Anyway would a sequel do it justice? Is it even worth thinking about? You do wonder, but if any one can, Dan can!
