While we have to wait another year at least for the Lone Ranger to ride onto the big screen, Johnny Depp who plays Tonto has been speaking to Entertainment Weekly. Depp, who will next be seen on screen in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (this May), said “I always felt Native Americans were badly portrayed in Hollywood films over the decades, It’s a real opportunity for me to give a salute to them. Tonto was a sidekick in all the Lone Ranger series. This film is a very different approach to that partnership. And a funny one I think.”. Jack Sparrow also went on to say that the screenplay is really funny. Still no idea’s on who will play the Lone Ranger, but George Clooney’s name has been tossed around for quite some time now!
I think Depp and Clooney would be brilliant on screen. Both can really excel on the humour side of it and both, whilst huge stars seem to share the screen easily with other big names. Oceans and Pirates been examples! Personally, I can’t wait to see what happens with this one. I was always a fan of the Lone Ranger movies that turned up and the music…well…here’s a reminder!
