Legendary Pictures has been gearing up for a reboot of Godzilla for a little while now, and it's been announced today via
Heat Vision Blog that Monsters director, Gareth Edwards is currently closing a deal to direct. The director shot onto the scene last year with his debut, Monsters, which was made for less than $500,000 (which is pretty much zilch in Hollywood). On Godzilla, Edwards is expected to co-write with an as of yet unnamed writer. I'm actually quite excited at the prospect of a reimagining of the classic monster. I mean, it couldn't be as bad as the 1998 flick (the one where Godzilla had babies in Madison Square Garden?). And while I wasn't too gone on Edward's directorial debut, I'm sure he's going to crack this one.
