The incredible talent that is Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) has just been confirmed to direct an American version of Death Note, the highly popular manga and anime. The news (confirmed by Deadline) also says it'll be written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. In the original, a bright young student, Light, stumbles upon a mysterious notebook, where if you write in a person's name in it, they die. Death Note has sold more than 38,000,000 copies worldwide to date. As a big fan of the original series, I can't wait for this. That, paired with Shane Black, makes this a must-see for me.
