Ji-Woon Kim is about to make his English-language debut with The Last Stand. The director, whom previously helmed A Bittersweet Life, I Saw The Devil and The Good, The Bad & The Weird, recently spoke with Coming Soon about his new project, which tells the story of a small town American Sheriff, tasked with stopping a Mexican drug cartel from speeding through his town to safety.
The director had this to say, "My concept for 'The Last Stand' is that it's kind of a combination of 'Die Hard' and 'High Noon' where (the latter) was about protecting something very important that needs to be protected, while 'Die Hard' is a very drawn-out, long process that almost kills someone in the process, so my film will be something that has to be very well protected and in the process, we almost die protecting it in a way." I for one will be front row, opening night for this. Even with the announcement that Liam Neeson has dropped out of the project, I can't help but think this will be amazing.
