He's been on a very welcome roll lately since his Oscar success, and that doesn't look like subsiding. Deadline are now reporting that he's being lined up to replace Zack Galifinakis (who has about four thousand potential films lined up) in R.I.P.D. - which stands for Rest In Peace Department. Amazing.
Ryan Reynolds is leading the cast of this film which centres on a recently dead officer who, in return for 100 years of serving with R.I.P.D, can track down who killed him. He's accompanied by another officer who has been dead for hundreds of years, and presumably this is the Galifinakis role that I'd say will be rewritten a bit now that His Dudeness is close to signing on. Reynolds and Bridges sounds, to me, like a great pairing, and with the movie apparently set over one day, it certainly sounds interesting and fun. It's directed by Robert Schwenke, who did the enjoyable RED, so hopefully this will turn out to be a good laugh.
No release date yet, but with casting underway, it should shoot this year.
