Much like the Aronofsky/Wolverine situation, I really didn't see this one going anywhere, so it's not a surprise. Variety are reporting that David O. Russell, of Three Kings and Set Drama* fame, has pulled out of videogame adaptation Uncharted. It's probably great news for the fans of the game, which follows lead character Drake as he goes on a number of mythical adventures. I'm not a big gamer, but it's great fun and very well done overall, with good foundations for an exciting film. O. Russell wanted to make a film that focused more on aspects of family instead of the insteresting mythical stuff, and along with the alleged casting of Mark Wahlberg, there was fan outcry.
The report says that now that the director has gone, Wahlberg too is an uncertainty, but that Sony are aggressively pursuing the movie anyway (and why not?) so we should get some more news soon enough.
*Set Drama isn't a movie, but look at this video of him on the set of I Heart Huckabees and you'll see what I mean - he's the one off screen who appears in the cream suit. No wonder Clooney hates him.
