What I loved most about Taken was the fact that nobody, and I stress nobody, saw it coming. The trailers weren't anything particularly impressive and the cast wasn't full of big names. Yet it became one of the most loved and discussed films of 2008. The film's producer, action movie mogul Luc Besson, announced today via press release that French director Olivier Megaton will direct Taken 2. Megaton (yes, he's really named after the Megaton bomb) has previously helmed Transporter 3 and Colombiana. As Colombiana is yet to see release, I couldn't comment on it, but I do remember Transporter 3 being extremely mediocre. But perhaps under the watchful eyes of Besson, Megaton will deliver another 90 minutes of pure badassical cinema. I sincerely hope so.
