You may or may not be familiar with Uglydolls, but if you're looking for a gift for a little person then they're definitely a much cooler prospect than Cabbage Patch Kids or Betty Spaghetti* - they're deliberately weird looking, as opposed to in-yo-face cuteness. Naturally, somebody bought the rights then and a movie is imminent.Total Film report that it's being developed by Illumination Entertainment, who recently surprised everybody with how good Despicable Me was. Apparently what attracted them to the brand was the idea of a whole mythology behind the designs and characters, which will give plenty of material for film stories. I think it's a great idea - the toys look good and different, and have a sense of humour about them. Could be good then, and one to look out for.
*My little sister had lots of Betty Spaghettis when she was little and I swear, there is a HORROR movie in that franchise. I mean, her boneless limbs come on and off at her choosing!!!
