Tarantino may talk his movies up years in advanced, but when they get announced for real the news flows in pretty rapidly. Not long after plenty of story details about Django Unchained have emerged, we have some casting rumours courtesy of Variety.
They're reporting that Will Smith is circling the role of Django, the slave who seeks revenge 'Western style' with bounty hunter Christoph Waltz. Not only is he circling it, he's allegedly first choice for Mr. Tarantino. He'll sacrifice his whopper twenty million salary to do it, just like Brad Pitt did for Inglourious Basterds. Not only that, but Tarantino wants to work with Sam Jackson again, so it shouldn't be long before they're confirmed.
Looks good then - I wonder if Tarantino will get Smith to go "AWE HELL NAW" at least once? He has to. There are loads of small roles to be filled too, so it's not a long shot to expect Ms. Uma Thurman to reappear in some capacity. Incidentally, blog IndieWIRE, who have read it, have a pretty detailed account of the characters and who could play them. I'd love to see Christina Hendricks in a Tarantino movie. One day.....
