Smart sci-fi seems to be making a bit of a comeback at the moment. We've got the new Not-Alien film Prometheus next year, along with Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity too. And don't forget Source Code which came out recently and was top notch. Now Doug Liman, director of the first Bourne movie and Mr & Mrs Smith has had his new movie Luna fast-tracked after an injection of cash from David Ellison, brother of Megan, who recently paid for Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie - instantly making her a goddess of some sort. In case you're wondering, their dad is Larry Ellison, billionaire founder of Oracle. Nice to see them spend their cash in a novel way.
At the moment, no casting has been made, but Liman is looking at Bradley Cooper, Chris Evans and Andrew Garfield for potential parts. Luna is described by Variety as an action heist movie, albeit one set on the as RENEGADE SCIENTISTS (amazing) make their way up to steal an energy source that lies on the moon itself. I wonder if it's Nuclear Cheese.
