Last week, Warner Bros. DC adaptation (and hopeful franchise starter) Green Lantern, opened to a pretty lukewarm reception. Critically, it is a flop (check out my review here) and financially, well, it's not all that much either. But that isn't stopping the studio from pursuing a sequel, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Their sources state that even though the suits at Warner Bros. are disappointed in the film's outcome, they still believe it could be a good, viable franchise. Dan Fellman, president of WB's domestic distribution outfit says, "the movie is still settling in".
I'm not sure if Green Lantern 2 is something we're ever likely to see, as the film cost $200 million to make, plus an advertising campaign of $90 million plus and as of this writing, it's only made $118 million. All I'll say is, if you're a fan of the film, don't get too cozy with the idea of seeing Hal Jordan on screen again.
