Finally a director has been found for the follow up that not many people asked for, The Wolverine. After Darren Aronofsky dropped out, every director from Woody Allen to Uwe Boll was rumoured to take over (slight exaggeration) but now James Mangold has been confirmed to take over.
Mangold is known for films like Knight & Day, Identity and 3:10 To Yuma and so it’s clear they’ve gotten a more action-esque director than another alt-choice like Aronofsky. What does it mean for the movie? Well, despite the tragedy in Japan, the script is set there and Empire say that provisionally, the movie is set to go into production later this year. Lets hope it’s a step up from the first one, especially after First Class did such good work for the franchise.
