For a while it seemed like we'd never get another Daniel Craig Bond movie, what with MGM being down the sewer money wise, but all that is over now and the 23rd Bond is set for October 2012 with - still can't believe this - Sam Mendes directing.Previously there had been rumours of both Rachel Weisz and Javier Bardem being cast, with the latter more likely as a villain, but it's been pretty quiet since then. Sure, the movie is a way off, but that doesn't mean casting isn't underway! Now via News of the World and Entertainment Weekly comes news that Naomie Harris is being tapped for a Bond Girl role.
She's been in lots movies, playing Calypso in Pirates of the Carribean and starring in Miami Vice, 28 Days Later and recently Ninja Assasin, but hasn't yet had that standout starring role to catapult her to the big time. She's a great actress, so a Bond role might be the one to do it! Of course, it's not always a path to success - probably the peak of Denise Richard's career - but Eva Green certainly benefited from it. Both of the Craig Bond movies have featured more than one Bond girl though, so don't expect Harris to be alone if she is cast...
