When she was alive, Elizabeth Taylor said on numerous occasions that the only person who would play her in a movie would be herself - although she was aware that one day, her life would make it onto the screen. With her sad death a few months ago, the inevitable talk emerged of several adaptations of her life and times, with lots of different takes mooted (her early life, later life, love life etc). Now, via /film comes the news that Marty Scorsese himself is interested in taking a shot at it by looking at the scandalous relationship between her and screen legend Richard Burton, her co-star on Cleopatra. The story he is considering is based on the novel 'Furious Love', which recounts the affair that began on set and was so significant that even the Vatican weighed in on it, angrily. It's speculative at the moment because Scorsese has a truckload of potential projects ahead of him, from 'Silence' to 'The Irishman' after he finishes kids movie Hugo Cabret. Nevertheless, it would be an interesting project for him to take on, especially if he could get the right pair for the roles. With Angelina Jolie's Cleopatra due out in 2013, interest in the original and it's shenanigans will certainly be high, too. Who do you think could fill the boots/heels of Burton and Taylor? Russell Crowe and Rachel Weisz?
