Surprised? I don’t think anyone is to hear that Ron Howard’s hugely ambitious plan to adapt Stephen King’s Dark Tower series into three movies and two tv series has been passed on by Universal. Similar to the last-minute cancellation of the Mountains of Madness, the studio got cold feet and thought the plan too ambitious. And you gotta say – they’re probably right. Financing a project so huge, that doesn’t involve Harry Potter or Christopher Nolan is probably considered too much of a risk for anyone.
However, there’s still hope – with Howard hoping to shop the idea around of gunslinger Roland Dashain and his mythical adventures. In the meantime though, he’s not sitting about and preparing to shoot the brilliant sounding Niki Lauda racing drama Rush, with Chris Hemsworth.
