A new Evil Dead movie is up there with Ghostbusters 3 and Sin City 2 in the list of movies that constantly get talked about but may never happen. Sam Raimi is partly to blame because he’s the one who usually brings it up! Well, we know he won’t be doing it any time soon because he’s set to work on Oz: The Great & The Powerful this year so will be pretty busy. But it looks like a remake of the original is now on the cards….
Slashfilm are saying that young director Federico Alvarez is going to direct a low-budget remake that Bruce Campbell himself is supporting and completely endorsing. Interesting, yes? Especially as Evil Dead 2 was basically a remake of the first one with more than five dollars on the budget. But don’t scoff just yet – Alvarez signed a directing deal with Raimi’s production company based on his short Panic Attack, which, as you can see below, is pretty brilliant. So this could indeed be a good development….what do you think?
