Bizarre story for you all this morning; Disney has pulled the plug on it's adaptation of TV's The Lone Ranger, which would have starred Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. The film, also to be helmed by Gore Verbinski, seemingly had a budget that ran north of $250 million! Really? Seriously?
Let me put this in simpler terms for those not in the know. The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring cost $93 million. 2009's Star Trek cost $150 million. Super 8 cost $50 million. And this year's Thor cost Paramount Studios $150 million.
So how The Lone Ranger needed $250 million dollars is anyone's guess. Regardless, the current thinking if that the project isn't completely dead, just shelved for the time being. So stay tuned for more on this.
