The year following the win is always an interesting one for Oscar winners, with all eyes on their next choices. Some make catastrophic mistakes (Halle Berry in Die Another Day) but others choose wisely. Colin Firth is one of the latter, starring in the upcoming Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy of which the buzz is IMMENSE.
Not only that, he’s now signed on for The Railway Man, a novel adaptation that just SCREAMS Oscar – check out the summary from the press release:
Colin Firth has signed on to star in Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson’s adaptation of Eric Lomax’s best-selling account of his torture during the construction of the Death Railway in World War II and his mission decades later to seek revenge on his tormentor.
Sounds promising, yes? The film, handled by Lionsgate, will start shooting in February in the UK, Thailand, Australia and Queensland.
Personally I think it’s great to see Firth continuing to sign up for what look like quality projects – I’m sure he’s been offered more than his fare share of rubbish this year!
