It’s safe to say that Mad Max himself is NOT a popular man at the moment – and with the constant stream of controversies that have dogged him for years, that’s no surprise. His last movie (as an actor) The Beaver, was a bit of a flop, his personal life somewhat overshadowing everything.
Now though, it looks like he’s planning to get behind the camera again. For years – even before any controversy – he spoke of doing a big movie based on Judah Maccabee, who lead the rebellion in 2 BC of the Jews against the Greeks and the Syrians. Historical, religious epic? Now that’s something he knows how to do….
Deadline say he’s writing it with Joe Eszterhas of BASIC INSTINCT fame, but Reuters are already reporting that the news has unsurprisingly made Jewish leaders very angry – before the movie even goes into production.
