Yup, it looks like Universal are planning a remake of the classic movie which was itself, a remake. Hey, it’s nothing new (The Thing) but no doubt many fans of the Pacino movie will not be best please to hear this particular news.
It’s not that simple, however, as the Hollywood Reporter say that;
The new Scarface is planned to be the same: a crime tale set in today’s world, offering a dark look at the American Dream.
So in essence it won’t be a direct remake, more of a The Departed style re-imagining….I think. It will still have the same producer as the 1983 movie, but hopefully this one won’t turn into some direct-to-dvd mess and actually offer something new to the brand – and with at least three movies bearing the name (now), it is basically a brand!
