More casting news for Quentin Tarantino's southern-slave movie, Django Unchained. It's reported that after months of talks, QT has finally landed the Miami Vice star, Don Johnson. Johnson will play Spencer Benett, an evil slave-driver whom forces his workers into prostitution. The character is eerily similar to one of Johnson's last roles, in Robert Rodriguez's Machete, where the actor played a violent, racist sheriff in Texas. It seems that was the root of the problem with Johnson signing on, as he was worried what both roles might do to his image.
Don Johnson joins the previously cast Jamie Foxx, Michael K. Williams, Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette and Christoph Waltz. What a fine cast!
Django Unchained opens December 2012.
