Back in 1996 ID4 blew many a mind. It also made a few bucks at the box office. And why it has taken so long for a sequel to even make some headlines is anyone's guess. After all, if something makes money in Hollywood, there’s a sequel. We’ve reported on the sequels in the past and now it turns out the Will Smith wanted $50 million to work on the movies. Between that and more salary demands, it never took off.
But now, it’s going to happen with or without Will Smith. And Vulture (NY Mag) are saying that the 2 movies will tell a single story ala Back To The Future 2&3. Given that the aliens blew the shit out of us the last time, it’s hard to tell what way these will go.
