Audiences have a love/hate relationship with Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., played by Clark Gregg. He’s popped up all over the place, from Iron Man to Thor, clearly leading up to a bigger role in The Avengers. Personally I think it’s a great bit of continuity and casting, but can see how his appearances might serve to distract from the movie. And whilst S.H.I.E.L.D. haven’t got their own movie (yet), Marvel’s One Shot series of films aim to shed some more light on characters like Agent Coulson.
