Given that De Niro was once the King of Comedy (ba-dum) it’s surprising that this has taken so long to come together. Well it probably isnt. Either way, Sean Penn is directing the comedian which will see De Niro take on the role of a pissed off comic who is climbing the fame ladder (again) by playing a popular TV character. His character ends up doing community service after assaulting an audience member, but all is not lost when he meets a woman who brings back some joy to his life.
Sean Penn will plank his butt on the directors chair in the spring.
