Jennifer Saunder’s hugely popular sitcom, Absolutely Fabulous, returns this Christmas and next year with three special episodes, which see the return of Eddy and Patsy since the series ended a number of years ago. Many hoped to see a full series return, but Saunders is currently writing the upcoming Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever, so understandably is pretty busy.
When that’s finished, however, she plans to get to work on an Absolutely Fabulous movie. Talking to the Sunday Times, she said:
"We thought it would be hilarious if [Edina and Patsy] went to a party on an oligarch's yacht, got drunk, fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the ocean. Everyone else has left, and the ship has been moved on."
Deadline have also confirmed that production of the film is due to get underway in the near future. What do you think? Excited? Absolutely Fabulous is a rightly well-loved show, and whilst many sitcom movies are absolutely terrible, Saunders has a pretty flawless success rate.
