In very welcome news, the undoubted star of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Andy Serkis, has signed on the dotted line for a sequel. Which means that, to the delight of many, a sequel is definitely happening. Not that this is a huge surprise but with sequels often announced before the original release, it was odd to see things go so quiet on this movie.
Total Film report that Serkis has apparently signed on for a seven-figure sum for the movie, which is totally deserved. There is still much buzz that he could be in line for an Oscar nomination too, which is also deserved. Director Rupert Wyatt has said they have lots of ideas for a sequel, but the first movie sets things up in a brilliant direction.
But what will they call it? The name can’t get any longer! How about APEMAGGEDON? No? Okay then.
