Jeremy Renner has spoken to Empire on his role in the new Bourne Ultimatum quasi-sequel, The Bourne Legacy. "My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, (The Bourne Legacy) has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters."
When asked if sinister organisation Treadstone is still involved? "Yeah, it's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash. It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie."
Renner and director Tony Gilroy face a serious challenge with the Bourne Legacy, with the shadows of Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass looming large. But in Renner the new movie has an actor whose stock has never been higher, with the Hurt Locker star set to appear in the new Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and 2012’s The Avengers.
The Bourne Legacy is due out on August 17, 2012.
