Speaking of Summit Entertainment, they have made strides in the development of the Enders Game series. Summit has purchased the rights to make the series of books into movies and have snapped up Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) for the leading role.
There have been numerous attempts at actually making these books into a movie, but the controversial nature of having violence in such close proximity to children needs to be positioned delicately to an audience. For those of you not familiar, this story has a very Harry Potter feel to it, a young boy is thrust into a school for the gifted. Set in a futuristic world that is under constant threat of alien attack. Ender must learn to develop new skills to help him cope with being separated from his family and adapt in his new environment and put his natural tactical genius to good use.
In a progressive move is seems Asa Butterfield will be taking on the role of Andrew “Ender” Wiggin. I think for a great deal of fans of the books will find it easy to identify him with Ender which is always a great start. This with the fact that there is tons of material written to support the series, lets hope this time around the film will make it to our screens.
