Things are slowly picking up speed for a sequel to JJ Abrams, rather brilliant, Star Trek. Shooting, according to trusted sources is to begin on January 15th 2012.
From a script point of view, well thats in the bag. That said the co-writer Robert Orci has said that they are currently working on the 3rd draft. By all accounts the writers have to ensure the script fits into the budget set by Paramount. And the post production has already started with ILM already beavering away at many space effects, that don’t need any actual physically filmed elements.
All the cast will return, but no word on any new characters and who will play them.
