Tintin is doing huge business in Europe at the moment, so it’s pretty great timing for the announcement that stripey-jumper wearing globetrotter Wally (or Waldo) is getting his own movie courtesy of MGM.
THR report that they’ve bought the rights to the character and will turn it into a live-action family franchise, presumably focusing on the adventure aspect of the character as opposed to actually making the audience spot him on the screen. Although, that would be a pretty novel trip to the cinema. There’s definitely a market for the brand still anyway, with THR reporting that up to 55 million books have been sold so far around the world.
