For quite some time now, the rumour mill was grinding hard giving us all the impression that Benicio Del Toro was to star in Star Trek 2.
Well, bad news I'm afraid. Del Toro will not star in JJ Abrams sequel after talks broke down last Wednesday, over what is reported to be monetary issues. One would imagine this kind of thing happens all the time, but with such a frenzy over whos going to play the bad guy, this is making big headlines.
Yesterday I posted an article where it was announced the Peter Weller has signed up for Star Trek 2. With Del Toro out of the picture, surely Weller won't take up the reigns as the main bad guy. Apparently, he's going to be an "older" bad dude. Whatever happens, JJ Abrams will have to fill the void left by Del Toro quite quickly. If money is the issue here, expect somebody equal or slightly less in magnitude to the Wolfman.
