It has been confirmed that the sad news of an extra in “The Dark Knight Rises” has died after suffering a heart attack on the set. Rumours were circulating throughout November but reports have now been confirmed by the studio. The unidentified male extra reportedly suffered from a heart attack and died during the rehearsals. This story originally broke by The New York Post, it is reported that the actor wandered off during a break and was later found unconscious. Although he was taken to hospital, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Warner Brothers issued the following statement “The studio can confirm that a male extra passed away while on a break during an off-set crowd rehearsal for a sequence with several hundred extras... in early November," a Warner Bros. rep told The Post. "Production fully cooperated with the authorities’ investigation, which established that he died of natural causes." It has been speculated that the scene being rehearsed was the big fight scene that takes place between escapees of Arkham Asylum led by Bane against the Gotham Police. This latest death involving an extra follows other tragedies in recent on set deaths, notably in Expendables 2 in which a stuntman died and also a crew member died on the set of the sequel to G.I Joe.
