The latest on the Hollywood grapevine is that Patricia Arquette is on board to play the role of Jeff Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert. The upcoming biopic of the tragic singer’s life is being directed by Jake Scott and he has already found his leading man in Reeve Carney, (he of The Tempest fame.) The movie is rumoured to be called Mystery White Boy, the film follows Buckley’s life and career which was cut short by his tragic death at the age of 30. With other Buckley tribute projects underway such as Greetings from Tim Buckley it seems this offering will be well received as it has the blessing of the real life Mary Guibert and the director also has access to personal archives and key permission to use Buckley’s classic version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. This will be Arquette’s second collaboration with the director; she previously appeared in the 1993 hit True Romance. The script is being written by Ryan Jaffe and shooting is set to begin in spring in New York.
