Clooney is in the process of developing an adaptation of the book 'The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History' by Robert M. Edse.
He is working on the screenplay for the book and will also direct and the star in the film. The story follows museum directors and curators from the US and UK. These people risk their lives and search Europe and find priceless art which was taken buy the Nazi forces during the war.
He said: "We're working on the screenplay right now. I'm really interested in telling the story of how these very unlikely heroes went miles deep into a mine and found all the art and returned it.
George will be working on this with producer Grant Heslov in conjunction with Sony.
