The story of the first and only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, centering on an aging and frail Margaret Thatcher looking back on her life.
She is accompanied by the ghost of her late husband, Denis played by the fantastic Jim Broadbent (Harry Potter, Bridget Jones Diary, Moulin Rouge) in her comfort of her home in London she goes back and tells the story of some of the interesting and pivotal moments of her life.
She goes through the rise and fall of her career thinking back on times like the 1984 IRA bombing of the Grand Hotel, the Falklands war and her impeding downfall.Spouting some great one-liners “It was the people who put me here. It’s up to them to tell me when to go.”
Meryl Streep gave an extremely convincing, pitch perfect performance. She took this role beyond mere impersonation. She breathed life and energy into the character and was very seamless. Broadbent was equally matched for his role in the film giving a great supporting role.

The only difficulty with it was the fact that for such a life, it is difficult to condense into a film so sometimes it felt a bit like a “Best of…” moment, but that is just a very small critique. It did give a large variety of her life and the casting was spot on for this. Definitely worth a watch, but will not be everyone’s cup of tea.
