The Sitter Review

The world's worst babysitter is in the for treat when he has to take care of some adolescents amidst running away from some drug dealers. Jam packed full of immature jokes and highly unlikely story lines from the makers that brought you Pineapple Express.

It is easy to see why Jonah was picked for the main role in this. The character is much like we have seen before from movies like Super Bad and Get Him to the Greek. An overly sarcastic protagonist who tries everything to get out of trouble with the obligatory off the cuff one-liners. The supporting actors leave a great deal to be desired. It is similar in some ways to the movie Bad Teacher in how it treats the kids. There seems to be no problem in giving children a more adult role and shouting abuse at the occasionally. 

The drug dealing villain of the piece who is out for Hill's blood is in the form of Sam Rockwell who has given solid performances in films like Moon! Given the limited script his character was given he faired pretty well and made the most of his role. Though despite him trying to break out he was still subdued by the inherent dullness which all the characters suffered from. 

Overall the movie was not great. The movie genuinely has some laugh out loud moments however, like me, if you liked the look of the trailers, it is likely that you have already seen all of the best moments and jokes of the films. It is a comedy which fans of Jonah Hills style of comedy this is something to be enjoyed. The movie was very disjointed in places and the addition of the drug dealer storyline just seemed to draw from David Gordons Green previous movies, it did not add any depth to the story.

Recommended if you are a solid Jonah Hill fan or looking for something to crack a few laughs and don't mind wasting a few hours in the process.
