Steven Spielberg’s WAR HORSE has had a stellar opening weekend at the Irish box office, stealing the hearts of Ireland and galloping in at No 1, with a weekend total of €297,000.
Taking €120,000 more than this weeks second place runner Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, WAR HORSE also beat last year’s British triumph, The King’s Speech’s opening weekend of €263,000 (a film which went on to take €3.7million in Ireland.
This stunning adaption of Michael Morpurgo’s much loved children’s book, achieved a great screen average of €4,715 as Ireland’s moviegoers flocked to see Spielberg’s sweeping epic interpretation of the WAR HORSE story.
