It has been reported that in Moscow, Central Partnership has become the first Russian company to sell its movies on iTunes. The first instalment containing around 20 film titles with the remainder to follow in the near future. A spokesperson revealed in The Hollywood Reporter stated that “It is important for us to create a channel for delivery of Russian movies to the international market,” she went on to say. “Unlike agreements with distributors, who are normally very selective, here, we can offer a large number of titles.” Central Partnership titles will be made available to Apples’ target markets in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand with Ireland and Britain to follow suit. The obvious motivation is for Russians living abroad; as a result all movies will be in Russian with English subtitles. This step by the company is set to be pioneering at the very least in the Russian film industry, the details of the agreement with the iTunes store but it is thought prices for movie titles will range from $1.25 to $12.
